Jim Jonas

A Humble Man From Humble Beginnings

Jim Jonas was born August 30th, 1976 in Hot Springs, South Dakota to Randall and Debbi Jonas. Jim has two younger brothers, Mark and Steve.

When Jim was 9 years old, his family moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. Living in a one-bedroom apartment for the first two-years was very tough for the Jonas Family. Randall worked as a window installer, and Debbi worked as a waitress. With both of Jim's parents working, Jim was responsible for caring for his younger siblings after school until their parents got home.

In 1991, Jim's father was hired as an Operating Engineer at the Frontier Hotel and Casino. The Jonas Family soon moved into a two-bedroom apartment near Decatur and Twain. Jim believes that his family and neighbors were very influential in the early development of his very positive work ethics. Working hard to achieve his goals, he earned money to join school sports by babysitting and walking door-to-door delivering the Review-Journal.

Jim attended public schools - grades 4 through 12 - in Las Vegas

Young Jim Jonas attended Rose Warren Elementary school for his fourth and fifth grade years.

In the summer between fifth and sixth grade the school district was re-zoned. Jim was to be bussed to Booker Elementary School. Debbi Jonas petitioned the school board and was granted a zone variance which allowed Jim to attend Rex Bell Elementary School instead.

Jim attended Cashman Junior High School where he was an Honor Roll Student. He excelled in his studies and enjoyed a variety of team sports.

Jim was a scholar-athlete at Clark High School. He was a member of the National Honor Society and the Varsity Football Team. He obtained and held a part-time job at Vons Grocery Store while in high school. Upon graduation from high school, Jim began working full-time for Vons Grocery Store.

Jim Earns a Masters Degree while working full-time
